Install JournalV4 on your device for a native app-like experience.

What is a PWA?

Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) let you install JournalV4 on your phone or tablet just like a native app—no app store required. Once installed:

Launch from home screen — Tap the icon just like any other app
No browser UI — Full-screen experience without address bars or navigation buttons
Always up-to-date — Updates automatically when you open the app
Offline access — View your data even without internet connection

Installing on Android

Install JournalV4 on Android devices using Chrome, Edge, or any Chromium-based browser. The process takes just a few seconds:

Open JournalV4 in Chrome

Navigate to JournalV4 in Chrome, Edge, or your default browser.

Tap the menu (⋮)

Look for the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of your browser.

Select "Add to Home Screen"

Some browsers may also show "Install app" or "Install JournalV4".

Confirm installation

Tap "Install" in the confirmation dialog. JournalV4 will appear on your home screen with a high-resolution icon.

Pro Tip: Some Android devices also show an install banner automatically when you visit JournalV4. Just tap "Install" when you see it.

Installing on iOS

Install JournalV4 on iPhone or iPad using Safari. Other browsers on iOS don't support PWA installation.

Open JournalV4 in Safari

Navigate to JournalV4 using Safari (not Chrome or Firefox—PWA installation only works in Safari on iOS).

Tap the Share button

Look for the Share icon (square with arrow pointing up) in the bottom toolbar.

Scroll and select "Add to Home Screen"

Scroll down in the share menu until you see "Add to Home Screen". It has a plus icon next to it.

Tap "Add"

Confirm the name (JournalV4) and tap "Add" in the top-right. The icon will appear on your home screen.

Important: On iOS, you must use Safari for PWA installation. Chrome, Firefox, and other browsers on iOS don't support this feature.

Uninstalling the PWA

If you need to remove the installed app from your device, the process is the same as uninstalling any other app:

Android

Long-press the JournalV4 icon on your home screen, then tap "Uninstall" or drag to the uninstall area.

iOS

Long-press the JournalV4 icon on your home screen, tap "Remove App", then "Delete App".

Troubleshooting

Installation option not showing

Android: Make sure you're using Chrome, Edge, or a Chromium-based browser. The option appears in the browser menu (⋮).
iOS: You must use Safari. Other browsers don't support PWA installation on iOS.

Icon looks low-resolution

If you installed the PWA before the high-resolution icons were added, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the app to get the updated icon. Your data will remain safe—it's stored on the server, not in the app.

App not working offline

Some features require an internet connection. Offline support is limited to viewing previously loaded data. Full offline functionality may be added in future updates.

App won't open / crashes immediately

Try clearing your browser cache and reinstalling the PWA. If the problem persists, access JournalV4 through your browser instead while the issue is investigated.
